Exercise & Musculoskeletal Health
Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions refer to injuries and disorders affecting the human body’s movement or MSK system. This includes, but not limited to, damage to muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, discs and blood vessels. MSK conditions are the second largest contributor to disability worldwide, with lower back pain being the single leading cause of disability. MSK conditions are prevalent across an individual’s life course, and significantly limit mobility, dexterity and quality of life.
Common MSK conditions include osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, osteoporosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, muscle/tendon strain and ligament sprain.
Regular exercise, in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle, is the optimal way to maintain a strong and healthy MSK system. Exercise can reduce symptoms of pain, stiffness and inflammation by improving joint mobility and muscle strength.

Exercise can also help:
Improve flexibility
Aid joint lubrication and nourishment
Increase muscle strength
Enhance bone health
Improve balance
Improve posture
